A Note From School Leaders
What a strange split week we've had! As you wrap up, we encourage you to download the family version of Seesaw on your own devices. This version allows you to see your child's work without accidently completing lessons for them. It is also a great way to text teachers. We would love to hear tips from families about how to stay safe and have fun as the days get colder and longer. Please reply to us or send an idea to Casey.Jeannot@highlineschools.org
A Note from ArtsCorps
Thanks to all the families and upper grade teachers who participated in our very first virtual Art Friday! Ms. Carina loved seeing students, their resourcefulness and problem-solving skills as they made their blockprints inspired by South Asian textiles.
Families with students in pre-K through 2nd grade and Ms. Anderson’s class, your turn is on Friday, Nov. 20th. If you haven’t gotten an art kit yet, please make sure to come by the school to pick it up next week. Please take a look at the instructions inside the art kit to help your student prepare. A video of the activity will be available in your student’s library Seesaw on Wednesday, Nov. 18th in case you want to take a peek before Friday.
Please have your students post their creations in their Library Seesaw. Thanks!
A Note from Our Librarian
No new news this week.
A Note from Our Music Teachers
This week, students have begun our unit on music theory! Music notation has been our area of focus. Students are practicing essential skills such as music literacy and fluency. In addition, students are learning to read and write rhythms using quarter notes and eighth notes.
A Note from Our PE Teachers
We had a great week in PE! Students worked on the Macarena dance warm up. In addition, the word of the week is “hand washing” which is very important this time of year. Finally, students worked on kicking and dribbling to improve lower body manipulative skills. Great work, Hornets!
