Kindergarten Jump Start Family Letter

Kindergarten Jump Start Family Letter

Hello Hazel Valley Kindergarten families,

We are so excited to welcome you to our Dual Language program and school. We are very grateful you have selected Hazel Valley as a place for your child to grow, be loved, and have an incredible multilingual educational experience in English and Spanish.

We hope you are looking forward to our Jump start program from August 17th-19th. Students will come from 8:45-11:45, Wednesday- Friday. Morning breakfast will be served in our cafeteria. During this jump start experience, your child will have an opportunity to explore new learning, meet our amazing kindergarten staff, experience routines and procedures such
as learning stations, art, reading, math, fine motor, using the bathroom, how to go to different classrooms, breakfast time in the cafeteria and so much more. We also use this time to identify the strengths, interests and needs of your child.

To help your child be ready for the 17th, routines in your family schedule can be super helpful. For example, going to bed to allow them at least 9-10 hours of sleep will be beneficial so they can wake up with enough time to be at school and ready by 8:45.

For jumpstart, we encourage your child to bring:
- A water bottle with their name on it. (We will have some in the classroom as well.)
- A change of clothes if they are prone to having accidents.

Your child will not need any school supplies.

Transportation:
If your child will be riding a bus to school, please use the Transportation website to access your child’s bus stop.

Family Meeting:
On Wednesday at 9:00am, we will have a parent meeting in the library. This meeting will also be live via zoom (We will text and email
this out the night before as well.)

If your child is not able to attend jump start, please let us know.

As a reminder, the first day of school for Kindergarten is September 7th and the school day is 8:45-3:15, Mon- Thur, 8:45-1:45 on Fridays. Your family will have a connection meeting September 1st, 2nd, or on the 6th and you will receive a form to sign up through during jump start.

I believe that teaching cannot be done alone, please be part of our team to give your child the best school year experience! Gracias!
