Children turning 5 years old on or before August 31 can start kindergarten in the 2019-20 school year. Register your incoming kindergartener to have access to free kindergarten readiness programs and materials.
ECEAP is free for eligible families and children that have turned 3 or 4 by August 31.
This year, more than 60 students in second through fourth grades graduated from the Team Read program at Hazel Valley and Midway. Team Read pairs students who are reading at least one year below grade level with trained teen coaches. They meet for one-on-one tutoring after school and during the summer.
Highline children can eat free breakfast, lunch, and snacks during the summer through the federally funded Simplified Summer Food Program. The program provides funding for several of our schools to serve children living in South King County.

With the close of the legislative session, we now have a clearer budget picture for 2019-20. State lawmakers made some modifications to the McCleary funding plan that help us. However, enrollment is still declining, and that means a decline in state funding.
